Training Practice Devlog #1
Hi! I’ve never done a devlog before (I usually get too caught up in the project I’m doing to be consistent w/ it 💀) but I’m working on a Very Big thing as my final project for my creative program. If you want to be kept in the dark so it’s more of a surprise when it comes out, I recommend closing your eyes and not reading this…buuut I also want to document how my process is going! So here we goooo
WHAT'S GOING ON!!!
So! I’m making an animatic of one of Bewilthred’s new Zephyr Revamp chapters, Training Practice. I.E, the kaite bonding chapter. YAAAAY! For my creative program, our last project ever is to make anything we want in the last 3-4 months of school, so I chose to do this. Why? Because I am a creative masochist, of course. Yes I know it’s an absurd amount of work. But I once made an entire similar project in middle school for what was literally a creative writing free for all and I just dumped all this extra work on myself because I could I Guess. Long story short I am well known for getting into these sorts of endeavors. I made a visual novel, wrote a novella, hell even made this whole website just for Kicks. For Giggles even. As famous defunctland once said. the only thing I hate more than making stuff is Not Making Anything. Even if that means sacrificing my sanity.
But all that aside! What progress do I actually have to report thus far. The long answer is A LOT! So since starting the project I have done the following:
- Wrote/Edited the Animatic Script
- Made a full Rough Audio + SFX Edit of the entire animatic
- Made Rough Background References
- Redesigned the LOC (League of Chaos) (yes somehow it took this long for me to do that)
- Thumbnailed the animatic in Cardstock
- Matched the thumbnails to the rough audio cut to make sure everything makes sense/works
That doesn’t Look like a lot on paper but oh lord. This is just the brief overview LOL. This isn’t even accounting for the fact I’m scouting out people to voice in this thing still and will have to do a clean audio edit soon after that. AHHHHH IM SO SCARED!!! (im not Im actually fine)
The main progress I’ve made overall today and yesterday though was re-evaluating my boarding strategy and well, actually starting to board. I’ve finished the first sequence of the animatic and am around 1:30 into the uhhh… 20 minute runtime. LOL. I’ll say though for two days that is Extremely promising progress. I’m unfortunately gonna be like Gone the end of this week for college visits but after that I will (hopefully) get to dedicate my full effort into this! Excluding various stuff I gotta do for other classes we’re not gonna talk about that ok. That’s not relevant. Shhhhhh….
