HIIIII!!! So i’ve been in autism hibernation for like a day straight ever since the BIG NEWS that tomodachi life 2….HAS COME OUT!!! YAAAAAY. LETS TALK ABOUT IT!

I can’t lie guys I have been waiting and so hyped for this game since it was announced. I genuinely was starting to believe it would never happen but it Has and its actually so unbelievably good. I love the og tomodachi life with all of my soul as a resident Creature maker and enjoyer… I did play the demo but I avoided getting too far into it cause I didn’t want to be completely obsessed until it was out (wanted to take time to Process the game instead of going all in), but ohhhh my god even that was too much. it was too much. The wait for this game was unbareable guys.
BUT ITS FINALLY HEEEEEREEEE AHHGUDHTUGDHUHSUF. Im not joking when I say I stayed awake until 1 am playing this game cause I realized it dropped at like 11:30. I was like its fiiiiine itll only be like 30 minutes! Then ill go to bed! It was not thirty minutes. but oh my goodness there’s so much to talk about. this post will be only a crumb of the sheer joy this game has caused me in the past day or so. Im so serious when I say I teared up opening this game for the first time. This shit is that serious
WHAT I LIKE!
First off the ISLAND. THE ISLAND!!!! I was so worried itd be a pain in the ass managing the island cause I admittedly dont really like the building aspects of life sims that much, but this game makes it So Easy. They also have the miis suggest things to build/adjustments to make and it does it for you which is so very nice, and the adjustments you can do on your own are like baby mode but you can def do more complex things if you wish.
Same goes for the mii customization! I’m actually quite cheesed with how you can both be as detailed and as simple as you want to be. I (like everyone else) am so happy about the addition of face paint and various other customization stuff….and of COURSE, the fact that miis can be QUEER!!!! YAAAAAY!!! I know they confirmed it ages ago but it genuinely made my soul so happy to be able to pair up my queer miis without needing to bend their genders 🥹 people have also not talked about it much but god I also appreciate the relationship tab as well. It makes putting romantic pairings (and preventing unintentional ones) extreeemely easily.
They absolutely kept the whimisicalness of the og game and not just that they IMPROVED UPON IT!!! All the little mii interactions, the little mini games, the new features like PETS…oooough…it just makes it so so much more lively. I also really appreciate the ability to just drag miis about and force em to interact…the games got a good balance between randomness and control and I appreciate it!!! I am defienetely not the type of life sim guy who likes micromanaging everything, I like having a few surprises! (as long as it isnt like. game breaking obviously).
There are just so many other small things I am so charmed by as well, the new wish system is sooooo nice and it lets you personalize miis not just in their appearance but in how they behave and act! which is something I feel is weirdly lacking in a lot of life sim games LOL! It’s a really nice feature esp cause tomodachi life is known for its bizarre interactions.
Another thing is how happy I am that this game embraces that its WEIRD AS HELL. I love that they didnt tone down any of the strangeness of the original game. Some of the interactions are soooo damn goofy but it makes them soso good. I’m glad they didn’t censor your words or anything like that and im ESPECIALLY cheesed by how they avoided the bland animal crossing dialogue effect (no offense ac fans youre chill) where in order to avoid pissing people off they just make everyone Talk the same, by making all the miis interact as if they are aliens pretending to be humans. It makes it so much more interesting to watch.
And for some small slice of life additions I love! Big fan of the auto save. I think we all are. also HUGE fan of the fact you can make it so miis dont age!! which thank god. The fact you can live together WITHOUT dating, that you can make your own items (DID I MENTION THE PETS I LOVE THE PETS SO MUCH 🥹), and even your own food is SO nice…the photo studio (despite some people fearing it due to some uh. Incidents.) is lovely, island lingo is a GREAT addition because omfg I love hearing stupid bullshit come out of my miis mouths. its just. augh. AUGH. IF YOU HAVE A SWITCH 2 GO PLAY THIS GAME!!!!! I DONT CARE!!! GO PLAY THIS GAME!!! ITS SO WORTH IT!!! ITS WORTH IT!!! TOMODACHI LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIFE
That being said though! I do hope that we get some updates in the future for certain things. Specifically I would love to see/have integration available for features like heterochromia/vitiligo etc without it interfering with the miis ability to make expressions. Yes it is true that you can achieve this via face paint but itd be nice for them to be functionally There. I also doubt itll happen as its very very sparse in life sims, but id love to see disability aids being added at any point! I unfortunately doubt it will be, but it should be in the game! I also hope they add onto the layering system w/ customization in general cause itd make life so much easier…
